The short version
FLSportsDesk runs cookieless, server-side analytics. Reader-engagement features (polls, surveys, engagement signals) work only with your consent and store no cookies beyond a local visitor identifier in your browser. We do not sell, rent, or share reader data with third parties for their marketing. You can reach us about your data at any time.
Analytics
We count page views, visits, referrers, countries, and similar aggregate traffic measures using server-side analytics with no cookies and no cross-site tracking. Aggregate analytics cannot identify you personally.
Engagement features
- Polls (such as the Tortured Fan Index), surveys, and engagement signals (for example, that a reader was on a page for 30 seconds or opened a report) are consent-gated: they record only if you interact.
- These features store a random visitor identifier in your browser's local storage so a poll can count you once. It is not a cookie, it never leaves your browser except as part of the engagement event, and clearing your browser storage removes it.
- Engagement records contain no name, email, or account: they are anonymous events with a timestamp.
Email
If you email us (tips, corrections, questions), we keep your message to respond and keep our records straight. We do not add correspondents to any mailing list. FLSportsDesk does not run a newsletter that stores subscriber data.
What we do not do
- No advertising cookies or tracking pixels, because we run no advertising.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of reader data.
- No profiles of individual readers.
- No collection of data from children; this site is not directed to children under 13.
Third parties
Our pages are hosted and served by here.now, which processes page delivery and the aggregate analytics described above on our behalf. Reader-support links point to Ko-fi; if you support us that way, Ko-fi's own policies govern that transaction.
Your choices and questions
Clearing your browser's site storage removes the local visitor identifier and opts you out of engagement features. To ask what anonymous engagement data exists in a window you were part of, or to request deletion of any record tied to your visitor identifier, email contact@flsportsdesk.com and we will handle it promptly.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version posts on this page with a new effective date. Material changes get a note at the top of the page.
